WILLIAMSPORT -- The purported vice president of the Aryan Strikeforce, a white supremacist group, will remain jailed without bail pending his trial on weapons charges later this year in U.S. Middle District Court.
Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle III made that ruling Wednesday for Stephen Daniel Davis, 47, of Bumpass, Va.
He cited the May 10 detention order issued by Magistrate Judge Joel C. Hoppe in Charlottesville, Va., following Davis' arrest.
Hoppe found there are no combination of conditions that would reasonably assure the safety of the public if Davis would be released on bail.
The judge noted in his order Davis had been convicted in 2014 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and that authorities found two weapons during a search of his home on May 5 when he was arrested.
Court documents state Davis is married with an autistic child and has worked at a transmission and automobile shop in Virginia since 1998 except for two years he lived in Florida.
He was the last of the six purported Strikeforce members arrested on charges contained in an April 27 indictment.
The six are accused of engaging in criminal activity to obtain firearms, ammunition and funds to carry out the mission of Strikeforce.
Davis, as part of the conspiracy detailed in the indictment, is charged with transferring a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9mm pistol to a fellow Strikeforce member last October in Potter and Tioga counties.
